Among the Clouds

Some pics of a QANTAS jet among the clouds. 

The airport is on the outskirts of the CBD so we get good views of incoming and outgoing air traffic from the city centre.

       

And ... a rather oddly shaped cloud advancing on East Terrace

Great pics - but what's a CBD?
I think that odd cloud is one of the anvil shaped ones that herald thunder - but don't quote me! I expressed vague interest in cloud shapes and almost instantly got a hand drawn guide to the main varieties but I'm still studying them.

The CBD is Central Business District, classed as the commerical area of the city. With Adeladie that's most of the city centre, 'cause as you know, the city centre is very small;)

The cloud shape didn't stay like that all that long and was gone by the time I came out of the gardens. From memory it did rain afterwards but I don't know if there was any thunder as I can't hear it from the my office.

Ooh, I especially like your... cumulo-nimbus? in the bottom one - very nice!

(And you know it's quite nice to have one pic above the cut in our flists... *g* These look fine for size like that, too, btw!)

ETA - ooh, did you mean your post to be locked? It'd be nice if they could all be open, unless you've a particular reason for locking? Cheers!

I think it would be a cumulo-nimbus, glad you like it! And, yeah, the shape was really unusual and I wonder if Moth is right that it heralds thunder.

I manually altered the default size of the pics, which is a nuisance but manageable! And I've unlocked the post now. Didn't realise I'd left it locked when I posted:)
