I was so pleased to see [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight' post here! So here's one of my summer (August) pictures. It's taken from our balcony in Portugal, and made me think of Wordsworth's lonely cloud! In fact it was the first of quite a build up and we expected a storm but it never materialised.

Our first efforts sent me off to learn more but I have now forgotten everything and my crib-sheet is in Portugal so if someone else could tag this or tell me what to do I'd be grateful.

We have had daily thunderstorms. Most days start with clear blue skies then clouds like the ones here barrel up over the mountains and spread out into general cloud cover, at which point it gets very noisy and the rain is amazing - one day it filled the water butt in one 'shower'. There are, of course, strong gusts of wind as the storms sweep in, but it is mostly very opressive. I meant to get the clouds at a different stage but the day I saw them my camera battery ran out at the wrong moment.

They rarely seem to form the traditional anvil shape but are very solid-looking and move and form fast.

It was hard to find any clouds in the sky again today - at least in Suffolk. By the time I got back to Cambs. though, there were clouds a-plenty, brushed across the sky...
