I'm falling down with this already - I've looked it up in my book, and I've looked it up on t'interweb, and I'm pretty sure this is Nimbostratus: "thick, grey, featureless rain cloud [which] gives all the other ones a bad name" - does that sound right to you? It did rain earlier, though it's getting patchy and the sun's actually thnking about... well, almost showing her face...
